ECT News was able to get an exclusive in depth interview with ECT driver Fred Hill. As most of you know Fred doesn't normally do interviews. He keeps his private life private. He was nice enough to sit down and open the door enough to give us a peek at this outstanding driver profile. We at ECT thank Fred for taking the time out of his busy schedule to do this interview.
ECT News: Fred I know you're busy getting your race team ready for your next race. Thank you for the interview.
Fred: Its a honor to do so.
ECT News: Fred, How did you get started in Nascar Sim racing?
Fred: Actually by accident. I purchased the game and played it off line for awhile. I put the game away for awhile, moved, bought a new computer, dusted off the game, and started racing again. My first online experience began at Sim Modified. While racing there I came across ECT. I noticed the mods ran here, enjoyed the racing, and decided to make this my new home

ECT News: Fred, are you married?
Fred: Yes, just recently married to my lovely wife Susan, October 19th, 2008.

ECT News: Wow! this news will disappoint Dave Soja. Fred, do you have children?
Fred: Yes, I have a 11 year old daughter. She actually at one time was very big into racing. I remember taking her to the race track in her little racing outfit and racing headphones. She has grown up some and now into more girl things. She does cheerleading and actually has won some awards doing it.

ECT News: Who is your favorite Nascar driver?
Fred: Martin Truex Jr. I like guys that started in Modifieds. He also was a one time resident of New Jersey.
ECT News: How would you describe your driving style Fred?
Fred: With respect to other drivers. That's my main goal. I also think knowing my limitations and abilities of what I'm driving at that time. When I enter a race, my first thought is to finish the race, not cause problems for other drivers. If I finish 10th that's fine as long as I know I raced it clean.
ECT News: Fred this reporter and others have noticed this about you too. I'm sure ECT appreciates this type of attitude. Fred, I think our readers know already by your answer to my next question, but just to make sure, what is your favorite mod to race?
Fred: Whelan and the SK Mod for sure. Its just what I grew up on and have a better grasp at. I like running all the mods but feel most comfortable in Modifieds.
ECT News: Have you ever met any other ECT drivers?
Fred: Yes I have met Pete Sindone, Doug Woolley, Joe Szot, Vinnie Muti at a race at Riverhead raceway back in June or August. I also met Todd Taylor, Ed Battaglia, and Pate Sindone at Wall Speedway. I looked at it as an opportunity to meet fellow ECT drivers and make new friends.
ECT News: Pete didn't get drunk and pee himself?
Fred: I didn't check
ECT News: Any reason you choose the #58 to drive?
Fred: Well I first wanted the 99 but it was taken. I was born in 1958 so I decided to take the 58 and make it my number.
ECT News: What is your favorite thing about racing at ECT?
Fred: Its not just one thing its several. Its a consolidation of friendship and good competition. Its mostly a great social league. A great place for friends to come together and race. The highlight of my racing career is the day I received my ECT tag. Knowing I was excepted by ECT made me feel awesome. I now hold the tag with respect and do what I can to honor it.
ECT News: Well Fred thanks again for the privilege of this interview. Good Luck to you on your chance to get your first ECT win.

Driver's Note: Interview was conducted Feb 9, 2009 and the team scored their first ECT win on Feb 18, 2009 - Thanks Greg!
